Install MediaWiki

Obtain and Install Mediawiki

Configure Postgres

  • echo "wikitmp wiki postgres" >> /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_ident.conf
  • sed -i 's/peer/peer map=wikitmp/' /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_hba.conf
  • /etc/init.d/postgresql restart

Configure Apache

  • vi /etc/apache2/sites-available/
  • mkdir /var/log/apache2/
  • chown root:adm /var/log/apache2/
  • a2ensite
  • /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
  • samba-tool dns add houselian wiki A

Configure Mediawiki

  • navigate to and click the link to set up the wiki
  • Select Languages=>Continue=>Continue
  • Select PostgreSQL=>leave host blank=>leave port blank=>Set Database Name helpwiki=>leave schema as mediawiki=>leave database username as postgres=>leave database password blank=>continue
  • Deselect "use the same account..."=>enter username as wiki=>Enter password as DBMinion=>Select create account=>continue
  • For name of wiki enter ComputerismsHelpPages=>Set project namespace to same
  • Under Administrator Account enter name administrator=>enter arbitrary password that you remember=>set email to>more options=>continue
  • Select Authorized Editors Only=>disable email=>enable file uploads=>set logo=>Select PHP object caching=>continue=>continue=>continue
  • open LocalSettings.php in notepad and highlight/copy it to start the following file:
  • vi /Computerisms/sites/
    • sed -i '/^#/d' /Computerisms/sites/ <= Easy cruft removal
    • sed -i '/^$/d' /Computerisms/sites/ <= Easy cruft removal
  • > /Computerisms/sites/; vi /Computerisms/sites/

Reconfigure Postgres

  • sed -i 's/peer map=wikitmp/peer/' /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_hba.conf
  • sed -i '/wikitmp/d' /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_ident.conf
  • echo "local helpwiki wiki peer" >> /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_hba.conf
  • /etc/init.d/postgresql restart

Update Database for LDAP Authentication

  • su - wiki
  • psql -d helpwiki -f /Computerisms/sites/
  • exit
